Itinerary

Uros Island – Amantaní

Day 1

We will pick you up at your hotel or bus station to set off for the Titicaca lake port in Puno, where we will board the boat and start the trip on Lake Titicaca. The first stop will be Uros Island, an over 3,000-year-old culture that builds its homes in the middle of the lake using the totora reed. We will learn about how they built their homes and more facts about their way of life. If there is time, we will be able to sail on a raft made of totora. Then, we will continue our trip towards Amantaní Island, where some of its inhabitants will welcome and accompany us for lunch made with local products.

In the afternoon, we will be able to walk up to the top of the island at an altitude of 4,130 meters (13,550 feet), where you will have an unbeatable view of the sunset over Lake Titicaca. Next, we will return to our assigned lodging at the home of a local family.

Amantaní – Taquile – Puno

Day 2

We will get up early to eat breakfast and say farewell to Amantaní as we depart for Taquile Island, which was employed as a jail during the colonial era. Here, we will be able to spend time with the locals, who will show us their textile handicrafts. We will also be able to tour a part of the island and visit some non-touristy areas where we can find temples, tombs, and terraces from the pre-Inca era. The guide will tell us about the traditional ways of planting and ancient customs that have been kept up until now. Then, we will go down to the port to take our boat and start the return trip to Puno.
